What size strap does my watch take?
- Measure the Lug Width: Place a ruler or caliper between the two metal horns (lugs) where the strap attaches to the watch case. Most standard watch straps come in even millimeter sizes, such as 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm or 24mm
- Check the Old Strap: Look at the back side of your current leather or rubber strap. Manufacturers often print or stamp the mm size (like “20” or “22”) near the watch end. Or simply measure the width of your old strap from side to side.
- Search the Model Specifications: Look up your watch brand and exact model online. They will usually list the strap size on their website.
However, if you have the watch in your possession, its still better to measure it yourself if possible.

How do I change my watch strap?

My watch takes 19mm or 21mm straps. Do you have any options for these sizes?
19mm and 21mm watch straps are not as common. Unfortunately, we do not stock any straps in these sizes, but you should be able to find them if you search a bit.
You can use a strap that is 1mm larger (a 20mm strap on a 19mm watch or a 22mm strap on a 21mm watch) as long as the strap is made of a softer material like leather or a nylon Nato strap.
They should be able to squeeze in without any issues.
You can also use a strap that is 1mm smaller. There will be a small gap. If this doesnt bother you, then its not a huge problem. It will still work! (see image below)

What if my watch has an integrated bracelet?
You generally cannot fit a standard, off-the-shelf watch strap onto a watch with a integrated bracelet (like the Tissot PRX) without heavy customization.
An integrated watch is designed so that the case and the bracelet flow together as one single piece. Because of this unique design, these watches lack standard straight lugs and normal spring-bar widths. Integrated straps usually means proprietary and non-interoperable with standard parts.
- Check the manufacturer: Some brands sell official leather or rubber strap options made specifically to fit their integrated case models (like the Tissot PRX or Vacheron Constantin Overseas).
- Buy a custom strap: Independent leather craftsmen can cut and “notch” a custom strap with a narrow tongue that fits the specific central gap of your watch.
- Modify a strap yourself: You can take a sharp blade to a cheap leather strap and trim the edges to fit the center opening, though the results can look uneven and messy
Can I use a Nato strap on a smart watch?
Unfortunately not.
A Nato strap is a 1-piece strap that slides underneath the watch case, covering the optical sensors used for heart rate, blood oxygen, and skin temperature tracking.
You need to use a traditional 2-piece strap on smart watches.
What length & thickness of spring bar should I order for my watch?
Please order spring bars according to your watch strap size e.g: If your watch takes 20mm straps, then you will need 20mm spring bars, 18mm straps will need 18mm spring bars etc.
We sell spring bars in 1.5mm and 2.5mm thickness.
1.5mm Is the standard thickness that will work on almost all watches.
2.5mm Spring bars are meant for certain dive/sports watches like the Seiko Turtle, Seiko SKX etc. Your watch + strap needs to support fat spring bars in order to use these. They will not work on watches or straps that do not support fat spring bars.
Are spring bars included with straps?
Certain straps have quick-release spring bars pre-installed in the strap (certain Rubber straps, Saffiano leather straps).
These products will usually mention it in the description.
All other straps do not come with spring bars. You will need to order them seperately. https://lugtolug.co.za/product-category/spring-bars/
You can also use the spring bars that are currently on your watch.
